Senior Revenue Cycle Consultant

Remote - Remote, TX

SCOPE/GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Senior Revenue Cycle Consultant is responsible for serving as a versatile, embedded consultant across client engagements, supporting revenue cycle operations through operational leadership, governance and policy work, change management, and hands-on problem-solving alongside client teams. This role is designed to operate across the full revenue cycle and flex based on the needs of each engagement, providing practical support, sound judgment, and client-facing expertise in a variety of operational environments.

The Senior Revenue Cycle Consultant works directly with client staff and leadership to help assess challenges, support process improvement, implement solutions, and keep engagement work moving forward in alignment with client needs and expectations. This position requires the ability to quickly build trust with client teams and serve as a capable operator regardless of the structure or scope of the engagement. The primary scope and judgment of the role are focused on client-side operational execution and support.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adapt to a wide range of engagement types and client needs across patient access, mid-cycle, and back-end functions, sometimes within the same engagement
  • Take on whatever role a client site requires, whether that is filling an operational gap, advising leadership, building a governance structure, or leading a specific improvement initiative
  • Build policy documentation and governance structures when engagements call for it, without that being the default assumption for every placement
  • Lead change management through system transitions, workforce changes, or organizational shifts when those come up
  • Serve as a trusted, capable point of contact for client stakeholders for the duration of the engagement
  • Identify and resolve cross-departmental gaps at the client, since problems rarely respect the client's own org chart
  • Navigate complex organizational structures and stakeholder relationships to move decisions forward, resolve barriers, and keep initiatives on track, particularly in environments where authority is distributed and no single stakeholder owns the answer
  • Recognize when specialized expertise or executive involvement is needed and pull in the right internal resource while still owning the engagement relationship
  • Rapidly build working knowledge in unfamiliar revenue cycle areas as engagements require, rather than needing full mastery of every domain going in
  • Hand off cleanly at the end of an engagement, leaving documentation and a stable operating structure behind
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or related field required
  • MBA is preferred but not required
  • 8 to 10 years in revenue cycle operations spanning at least two of: patient access, mid-cycle/coding, back-end billing and denials

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated adaptability across engagement types rather than deep specialization in a single function
  • Comfortable operating without a fixed playbook, and comfortable being handed ambiguous scope and figuring out what the client needs.
  • Strong organizational navigation skills: able to identify who really owns a decision, build relationships across departments, and keep momentum without formal authority
  • Able to build working knowledge in unfamiliar revenue cycle areas quickly, rather than needing full mastery of every domain going in
  • Policy writing, governance design, or change management experience is a strong plus
  • Prior experience in an interim, embedded, or client-side leadership capacity preferred
